To say I’m excited to be writing this post is an understatement of incredible proportions. I’ve been making, producing and mixing music for longer than I can remember; it’s something that has always been running through me. Over the years, I’ve sang on tracks, played saxophone backing, taken on the role of pianist and even DJ’ed over sets and mixed music from scratch. I’ve worn every hat there is to wear in the music game, but I’ve never released an E.P.
Why? Well now you’re asking I’m not entirely sure. I’ve always wanted to but with a focus on contributing to or producing other people’s music has always taken precedence. Now I want something to call my own and it looks like I’m about to get it.
Saxhouse – Debut E.P from Brendan Mills
Saxhouse comes straight from the basements of Buffalo Beats. It’s a synergy piece combining my classical Jazz and saxophone training, with my love of UK House music and my love of production. Think Clarence Clemons meets MJ Cole and they disappear into the booth. You’re probably approaching something of what Saxhouse sounds like there.
All four tracks from the E.P will be in the public sphere; Saxhouse, Don’t Get Left Behind, Cover Me (ft. Chenai Zinyuku) and the Saxhouse instrumental.
Oh, did I mention that Victor Simonelli is going to be using Saxhouse at all of his upcoming gigs?
To look out for…
On June 2nd, Concrete started the promotion push for Saxhouse. Let me know when and where you’ve come across it.
On June 23rd, Beatport are issuing the pre-release of Saxhouse.
On July 7th all hell breaks loose when Saxhouse hits clubs, bars and music stores around the world.
Date not yet agreed, but I’m already working on my next single. Look out for it this summer for sure, it’s going to be a windows down and top down tune. The one and only Kelli-Leigh is guest vocals on this track, the same Kelli-Leigh you’ll recognise from No. 1 singles with Second City and Duke Dumont.
